Yoga balances were one of the biggest challenges when I started practising. They still are, but my relationship with the challenge has changed. I need to engage deeply with the pose, and I’ve learnt very many things through all my shaking and tumbling and trying again that are directly applicable to my daily life. I’ve just found this bit that I wrote on some scrap paper at some point:

balance is a matter of getting the knack
breathe in – breathe out
not too tight or too slack
if I’m blown out of focus
I find my way back
– a million decisions
to keep on the track
